Achievements
-
Development and issuance of new instructions regarding the service of luxury cars (limousines), published in the official gazette.

Creation of a new pattern in the passenger transport service in Jordan where a license has been granted to Rayat-jet Company which owns a fleet of (7) buses in order to provide a distinct new service (VIP) provided to passengers for the first time in the Middle East.

The launch of Amman–Irbid line with ten new 2008 model buses running on its route.

Setting up of a council for partnership between PTRC and the relevant sectors of public transport.

Participation in the preparation of the national strategy for the safety of traffic in order to reduce road accidents in Jordan in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Completion of the design and start of implementation of a project to build and launch the unified departure Centre of Um-Sweneah.

Creation of a customer service office, working to equip the building, designing special forms for procedures and following up their processing.

Conducting training courses for the rehabilitation of the drivers in each of the governorates of Zarqa and Irbid.

Opening new offices in each of the governorates of Balqa and Tafila to improve the delivery of services to citizens.

Modernizing the public transport fleet in the Kingdom. 400 end-of-life vehicles were canceled during the year of 2008.

Laying out standards and rules for a new tariff system that reflects the operational costs and modifying fares on some transport lines in light of variations in the fuel prices.

Preparation of a study on the needs for public transport services in Irbid Governorate and assessment of the coverage of Al-Zarqa with public transport services.

Conducting a study and a financial analysis of the companies that transport university students in the Kingdom.

Establishment of a control division in the Commission and connecting it with field personnel monitoring terminals through the installation and operation of cameras in the arrival and departure stations. Ten cameras have so far been installed and six are currently operating.

Introduction of an electronic archiving system.

Downloading digital maps on the web site of the Commission.

Re-design of the website of the Commission in order to provide the best service thus emphasizing the concept of the electronic government.

Connect the Commission with the National Communication Center to facilitate a fast and and efficient transfer of information.
