Goals:
  • Offering means of transportation of phosphate rocks from the mines to Aqaba port for exportation.
  • Offering necessary facilities for the transportation of goods to and from Aqaba port.
  • Revitalizing the southern part of Jordan
  • Achieving development through transportation of goods by rail from Aqaba port to inland ports expected to be established
  • Application of rail transport due to its lower cost as compared to other modes of transport.
 Major achievements in 2008
  • ARC carried a quantity of 2566640 tons of phosphate rocks which represented the percentage of %102 of the transportation plan. This huge leap points to the professionalism as well as enormous efforts exerted by ARC employees. The total revenue reached up to JD 16423678 and the net yearly profit reached JD 1899342 despite the low availability of ARC stock.
  • ARC paid bonuses to its employees so as to increase their output.
  • JMPC extended their thanks to ARC for its efforts to achieve high phosphate figures in the year 2008.
  • ARC employees carried out rehabilitation of 17 wrecked wagons along with maintenance of  other 33 wagons
  • 11 kms of track had been cleaned by Ballast cleaning machine
  • Through constant cooperation between ARC and King Abdullah 2nd Center, many electric cards and signaling & telecommunication parts had been repaired in the Center.
  • The Center has successfully tested the system of following up trains by track 8 and GPRS .
  • ARC worked to up-grade efficiency of employees by constructing a training center in Aqaba branch.
  • Current and future training needs have been identified . These needs have been reflected in three main sections: a- Administrative   b- Technical  c- Computer & IT
  • The Training Department supplied ARC with technical man-power in addition to training students from neighboring countries.
  • ARC hosted the 13th railway scientific symposium of the Arab union held in Nov. 2008. Members of UIC and other friendly countries participated in the meeting which discussed developing the railway transport sector in the Arab world .
